How to drive a loader


  1. [O] position: In the OFF position, the ignition key can be inserted and removed.
  2. Position [I]: In the ON position, all electrical circuits function. On diesel forklifts, preheating is automatically activated in this key position.
  3. Position [I]: The starter rotates the motor shaft in the START position. After starting the engine, release the ignition key. The key will automatically return to its original position (2).
When starting the engine again, turn the ignition key to the (START / START) position, return it to the [O] (OFF / OFF) position, and then turn it to the (START / START) position.
Do not leave the key in the (ON) position while the engine is not running. This will cause the battery to discharge and make it difficult to start the engine.

Reversing and shifting levers 1/2 gear (loaders with manual gearbox)

The travel direction selector (forward / backward) (1) serves to select the direction of movement of the loader, and the high / low speed selector serves to change gears. The engine can only be started if the forward / reverse gear selector lever is in the N (neutral) position.

Parking brake handle

This handle is used to control the parking brake. The parking brake is applied when the handle is pulled all the way back (tightened position). To release the parking brake, press and hold the button at the top of the handle and return the handle to its original position (Release).
If the parking brake is not applied, the warning buzzer is activated.

How to learn to drive a forklift

At first glance, riding a loader is not particularly difficult - there are no gear changes, two or three pedals, several control levers and a steering wheel. However, there are more and more questions on how to operate the loader every day, which means it is not so simple.

Firstly, it is an extension of qualifications that allows drivers to perform a wide range of tasks, which is important when looking for work and further payroll. The employer is interested in hiring qualified personnel, therefore, having a state-issued certificate that confirms certain employee skills will be a significant plus.

Secondly, as noted above, today this kind of technology is used everywhere, therefore, there should also be a lot of specialists who can control it.

Of course, as is the case with any other vehicle, before you get behind the wheel, you need to undergo training and get a certificate.

As a rule, during training, future drivers of loading equipment will learn about the rules of loading and unloading materials, control and maneuvering. An important point is to consider the structure of the engine of the machine and its components. The basics of the functioning of the equipment, the arrangement of the chassis, electrical and hydraulic systems are mandatory. In addition, students will learn about what types and types of loaders are, what attachments exist.

How to drive a loader

After the relevant knowledge is obtained in a driving school, first-class driving requires constant training, which will give you the necessary experience, which will allow you to maneuver among storage racks without dropping loads, evenly building them on shelves. Before you begin, practice on a freeware site — lift and move empty pallets (or other goods). Try combinations of levers and buttons with which the movement of goods occurs.

Practice smooth movements - stopping and jerking can cause the load to fall. It is also impossible to make sharp turns. Of course, getting used to management the first time is not as easy as we would like, but over time it will become possible.

After you get comfortable and get used to the dimensions of the machine, you can begin to fulfill your duties.

To control this special equipment, follow these rules:

Before starting work, every day make it a rule to check the vehicle for any kinds of malfunctions or damage that may affect the quality of its work. Regularly check the condition of tires and hydraulic mechanisms,

If you find any malfunctions in the equipment, immediately inform the management of this. The use of a faulty machine is prohibited by safety rules,

use of loading equipment for transportation of passengers is prohibited,

Follow the rules and recommendations for using the equipment. Not only will this extend the life of its operation, but also the control will be as comfortable as possible,

the car must be accompanied by an audible signal, which must be used when a pedestrian or driver of another vehicle was unable to notice you in time,

when working on a forklift, it is necessary to position the forks so that they are as far as possible under the load.

cargo should be transported in such a way that it is pressed against the rear stops as much as possible, with a vertical frame tilted back,

it is necessary to use the correct distance between the canines, so that the load that is on them is securely fixed,

It is not necessary to carry out the transportation or storage of goods that are poorly folded,

When transporting the cargo, if possible, keep it as low as possible to the ground,

if visibility is impaired due to the dimensions of the cargo, use reverse gear,

to move with arms, legs, head out of the vehicle - prohibited by safety measures,

you need to slow down if there are narrow passages or obstacles ahead of you,

remember that under the forks of the loader you must not be even if the car is not working,

special vehicles must be parked with the control levers in the neutral position, on the brake. In this case, the forks must be lowered and the engine turned off.

Slow Pedal (ACP)

Serves to control the speed of the loader when driving in low gear, for example, when working with cargo. Slightly depressing the pedal causes the clutch to partially open, so the loader can move at very low speeds. Further depressing the pedal activates the brake. Depressing the pedal all the way to the clutch opens completely.

Joystick Control Technique

Inside the cab there is not only a steering wheel and pedals - traditional car controls, but also a joystick. As a rule, it is located to the right of the driver. However, recently manufacturers have begun to implement a control unit with a mobile joystick.

In other words, if the excavator is left-handed, then the joystick can easily be moved to the left side of the workplace. Joystick control is extremely easy to understand:

  • handle on yourself - lift,
  • handle from yourself - lowering,
  • handle to the right - the bucket makes loading movement (rakes),
  • handle to the left - the bucket is freed from the load.

As far as you can see, everything is extremely simple. Indeed, even an average student who regularly plays video games will be able to cope with the control of almost any modern loader.

Various attachments

As a rule, the bucket is the main equipment for the loader. It is used for moving, warehousing, loading bulk goods. However, special equipment can also be equipped with a fork.

It is used for handling packaged, palletized goods.

At the same time, control becomes even simpler (although there are some nuances depending on the boom of the fork). Recall that most forks move only in one plane - up / down.

However, some loaders can extend the arrow forward several meters (all several meters, so that the equipment does not roll over due to a shift in the center of gravity). But even in that case, the control is intuitive.
